I have great news!! I went in today and saw the Dr. First of all I went to the cast room where they removed my cast so the Dr could see my ankle and get some more pictures. It was so nice to get that tight thing off! Then it was in for 3 more xrays. They had to have an xray of each side and the top of my ankle. Finally we were called back to see the Dr. He said on the inside of my ankle where the screws are he couldn't even see the break now. On the outside of my ankle where the plate is the break was still visible but was healing nicely. He said I am still not allowed to walk on my foot at all for the next 2 weeks. He did compromise and let me get a removeable brace rather than a cast
He said as long as I am laying in bed the brace can be off, but if I am up moving around or when I go to sleep at night I need to wear it. I also start physical therapy on Tuesday of next week, I need to go 2-3 times a week for 4-6 weeks. He told me to start trying to move my ankle back and forth and try to stretch some of the ligaments back out. IF I am better in 2 weeks when I go back to see him he may let me walk on my foot and if therapy is going well he said I might be able to get away from wearing the brace too
So... I am happy. I am back in bed with my foot up and the brace off... Shhhh don't tell the doc, but I did go to the potty without putting the brace back on. I know I cant put any weight on it so I was very careful with the crutches. It is pretty sore right now. I think from being up so much today and probably because I have been trying to exercise my ankle a little bit. It is very stiff... and still slightly swollen, and real pretty colors of purple and red. Ohhhh, he did say I can sit in the shower now and soak it so that is great too
I will get some pics up later.....Thanks for checking in, huggs

That's great news. I'm glad you finally got that nasty cast off. Glad you are healing well, and I hope it continues and that you're bacvk on your feet in a couple of weeks! :sunny:
Oh, I'll be you are one happy camper to have that cast traded for a brace that can come off part of the day! That IS good news. Just remember that it will be a long, slow recovery to get back to where you were; and that physical therapy is the key to getting there. Please also remember the "other" name for those people: physical TERRORISTS! You will hate them, they will make you do things that hurt over and over again; but their work means the difference between recovering fully and recovering sorta. It's worth it, honey. Grin & bear it. And dream about them having to go to someone like themselves if they get injured... muhahaha!
oh and that "be" is supposed to be "bet" in the first sentence up there. Why do you always see those things JUST as you're hitting "submit?!"
:goodjob: Yay for the good news!:goodjob:
